“Look Out and Stand Up for Each Other: Non-Violent Bystander Intervention Training”

A Virtual Town Hall for Teens

sponsored by Senator Liz Krueger

And the New York City Commission on Human Rights

Wednesday, December 8th from 7pm – 8:15pm

Look out and stand up for your peers! Together let’s create a more inclusive and peaceful environment!

Learn what you can do to support other students who are targets of bullying and discrimination. This training is for high school students. Parents and Caregivers are welcome too.

This New York City Commission on Human Rights training for high school students can help you create a safer school community for yourself and your peers. You will get tools and learn strategies to help you respond safely when you see another student being bullied or discriminated against. Students leave these trainings equipped with verbal and behavioral de-escalation strategies to intervene non-violently to disrupt hate speech and hurtful behavior.

The Commission’s training was developed in partnership with the Center of Anti-Violence Education NYC.

The Virtual Town Hall will feature:
Alphonso Christian Smith, Youth Initiatives Lead Advisor, New York City Commission on Human Rights
Shaquan Womack, M.Ed, Racial and Restorative Justice Specialist, New York City Commission on Human Rights

You will have the option of joining the event online through Zoom, a webinar hosting service.
