42 State Legislators Urge EPA To Declare Hudson River PCB Cleanup Incomplete

New York – Today, State Senator Liz Krueger and Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner released a letter signed by 42 legislators to EPA Region 2 Director Gary Klawinski, calling on the EPA to revise their recent five-year review of the Hudson River PCB Superfund Site cleanup to mandate more dredging by GE in the Upper Hudson and more investigation of remediation effects in the Lower Hudson. Senator Krueger And Assembly Member Simon Announce School Lunch Shaming Bill

New York – Today, State Senator Liz Krueger and Assembly Member Jo Anne Simon announced the introduction of a bill (A7376/S6444) to address the issue of school lunch shaming and school meal debt. Currently there is no statewide policy on delivery of free or reduced-price school meals to eligible children, resulting in a disparate patchwork of approaches that varies across districts and between individual schools. The new legislation would ensure families are connected with all the meal-related benefits to which they’re entitled, and prevent schools from singling out or otherwise discriminating against kids who either have meal debt or receive free or reduced-price meals.

New York On Wednesday night, State Senator Liz Krueger hosted New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman in an event titled “State of the Resistance: An Update From The Frontlines”. The event was an opportunity to address the role of state attorneys general in challenging Trump administration policies on a host of issues from immigration to the environment to civil and voting rights. Attorney General Schneiderman has been at the forefront of many of these efforts. Sen. Krueger engaged him in a conversation about his important work so far, and what more can be done to protect New Yorkers’ fundamental rights and democratic institutions.
