On Tuesday, August 24th, Senator Liz Krueger joined City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Brad Lander and several other New York City Council members in sponsoring a town hall to discuss natural gas drilling in New York State. At this public event members of the community had the opportunity to go on the record to express support or opposition to drilling in New York State.

Currently the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is conducting an official study examining the potential health and environment impacts of hydraulic drilling.  However, while the EPA is holding hearings elsewhere in the State,  none have been proposed for New York City. Through this hearing, Liz and member of the City Council sought to give New Yorkers the voice they deserve.  Several hundred residents came to speak and/or listen to testimony.
